Purpose of Sabbath School
Sabbath School is the 'Heart' of the church; the first place where members and visitors learn about the love of God and the promise of the Gospel fulfilled in Christ our Saviour. Church is the place where we gather to worship and to learn to become Disciples of Christ. It is the place where we are to be nurtured, trained, and prepared for our ministry.
Our ministry is to fulfil the ‘gospel commission’, ‘Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit…’(Matt. 28:19). To fulfil this commission we need to study God’s word individually and collectively. Sabbath School is the place for collective Bible study.
My prayer is that we will all continue to study God’s word, to attend Sabbath School and continue to be ‘doers of the word’ thus fulfilling God’s purpose for the church. My promise is to work with everyone to ensure that the Sabbath School fulfils its purpose to support and realizes the gospel commission.
